Guidelines

Safety First

Your safety is your responsibility. Plan accordingly, ride within your limits, and always prioritize caution over speed.

Sleep Time

For each day (24h period) the rider must sleep at least 3 hours during the night time. No challenge will be validated if the rider does not comply with this rule.

Insurance Requirements

Mandatory insurance coverage required. This includes:

  • Personal accident insurance
  • Third-party liability insurance
  • Emergency medical coverage

Switzerland Considerations

Switzerland is not part of the European Union. Important implications:

  • No EU roaming - your mobile plan may not work or incur high charges
  • Different healthcare system - EU health cards not valid
  • Emergency services - familiarize yourself with local emergency numbers (112)
  • Insurance is mandatory - ensure your coverage is valid in Switzerland

Route Planning

  • Study the route thoroughly before starting
  • Check weather conditions and road closures
  • Plan your stops and accommodation in advance
  • Carry offline maps and navigation tools

Equipment Essentials

  • Well-maintained bicycle suitable for mountain terrain
  • Proper safety gear (helmet, lights, reflective clothing)
  • Emergency repair kit and tools
  • First aid supplies
  • Weather-appropriate clothing

Communication

  • Inform someone of your planned route and timeline
  • Consider carrying emergency communication devices
  • Download offline maps due to potential connectivity issues

Brevet Card Stamping

Riders will have the opportunity to stamp their brevet card at each checkpoint, start, and finish location. This traditional practice helps document your journey through the Swiss Alps.

Stamping is completely optional. Detailed stamping instructions and locations are provided in the challenge manual you'll receive upon registration.
